Serdang was originally one of a class of seven sloops buit in the late 19th century.

History Arrived in Netherlands East Indies on December 7 1897. Minelayer 1921-1926. Served as torpedorepairship 1932-1937 and 1939-1942. She is also known to have served as MTB- and seaplanedepotship. Scuttled near Soerabaja, March 6 1942 (Lt. C.A.E. Rhee)
