MTB 222 - class
These boats were one of the first to be purchased from the Royal Navy as a result of the decision to form a flotilla of MTB's, which would operate in the English Channel against the German convoys. MTB 240 and MTB 222 were purchased while they were still at the dockyard. MTB 222 only served with the RNN for a few weeks, as she was replaced by the MTB 235 shortly after. Other boats of this type, MTB 229, 231 and 236 were transferred from the British 9th flotilla. All boats survived the war and were returned to the RN in 1946. All boats were named after birds, although the common practice was to use the numbers. This type was very similar, if not identical to the MTB 202-class.
